Sensing something was up, Liam looked at me curiously. “Why are you biting your lip?” He gently tugged my lower lip with the pad of his thumb, the golds of his eyes brightening. Mia stared at the lipstick in her hand, its bright red casing gleaming under the dim light of the bathroom. The bold color felt out of place in her world of neutral tones and understated elegance, like a foreign object dropped into the wrong life. Its presence mocked her, taunting her with questions she wasn’t ready to ask. She turned it over carefully, as though it might reveal answers if held just so. A faint scent came from it, one that wasn’t hers. The floral undertone was sharp and cloying, completely unlike the subtle perfumes she preferred.

She grabbed my arm, eyes wide with excitement. “Is that what I think it is?” she gasped, pulling my collar down slightly before I could stop her. I groaned. “Lily—” “Oh my god!” She clapped her hands together. “Did Jaxon do this?” I sighed, shoving my books into my locker. “It’s nothing. He was just being annoying.” Lily smirked. “Uh-huh. Sure. Nothing says just being annoying like a full-on love bite.” I glared at her. “Can we not make a big deal out of this?”

I whispered and smirked wickedly when I saw her expression pale. Swiftly, I raised my hand toward the bite mark on Lorelei's neck and used my hand to swipe the mark. Immediately, I realized that Lorelei had been using makeup to draw a fake mate bite; the makeup stain in my hand enunciated it. "So useless! It's even fake." I taunted her with a disdainful snicker and took a step back.

Fiona, the makeup artist said as she put the final touch of crimson-colored lipstick on my lips. Ah. I just felt my face became heavier compared before. I can feel some itchiness on my face and I feel kind of uncomfortable with the paint on my lips. I keep on tasting the lipstick. "O.M.G. IS THAT REALLY YOU, BEST FRIEND??!!" Lucy said, looking so surprised and amazed while looking at my face. She put her hands on the back of the swivel chair where I am sitting on and spin it around, letting me face the mirror. O___O
