His hand moved from my cheek to the back of my head, holding me in place as he deepened the kiss. As his lips pressed harder against mine, something inside me snapped. A ripple of defiance grew within me, and I reacted on instinct. I sank my teeth into his lower lip, biting down firmly. He pulled back abruptly. Shock and pain flashed across his features. A metallic taste filled my mouth, and my chest rose and fell with ragged breaths. "What the hell?" he exclaimed, his hand instinctively touching his injured lip. I couldn't believe I had just bitten him, but it was a response born from a deep-seated need to assert control over a situation that had taken an unexpected turn.
