Chapter 3 Karis' POV I stood silent in the line as I awaited for the morning check session to end, my shoulders squared, my breathing steady, forcing myself to blend in even when every instinct in me screamed that I did not belong here. A month had passed since I ran away to Lunaris Academy to hide myself, a whole month of pretending and of surviving. "I'll never get married to an old man like the rogue King! I will not become a vessel to just birth warriors for his clan," I recalled what I had told myself on the day when I had left home, the words still burning with the same defiance that had pushed me this far.

The door closed, and she pointed to the bed, her warm voice saying, "Do you want to listen to some music to relax a little?" I knew that since this was our first meeting, Anna was trying to help me relax. I nodded in agreement, and soft music began playing—a gentle instrumental piece without words. I closed my eyes and followed Anna's guidance as she led me into a vast field with a blue sky and gentle winds.

Eventually deciding that it was pointless, she simply gave up and idled to save her strength. As more time passed, thirst and hunger seized her, and she yearned to see the light again. “What rumour?” “That the former Luna was barren. That she never bore an heir to the Nightwalker pack.” The rumour. I frown, shredding my palms with clenched fingernails. Fragments of whispers about the barren Luna slowly swim to the surface of my memories. Aurora clasps her hands behind her back and turns away from me to face the moon. "I travelled far," she says, her words slow, measured. "I went to places you couldn’t even imagine. I witnessed horrors that would haunt your every waking moment. I went through hell and back just to piece the truth together. And now, I finally have it."

The woman paused for a moment before she slowly turned to glare at Aurora and Layla with red eyes that blazed with the intent to murder. “Crap!” Layla muttered, not breaking her gaze. “We are in deep shit aren’t we?”

Running as if it was nothing, every leaf I stepped into flied creating a small artificial fall. The moon was hiding behind thick clouds as stars are nowhere to be seen. Why am I even running? That is also a thing I am not sure of. A runaway bride or Luna is something I am more familiar with. That thing happened countless of times already. In my tribe, some even says it as joke.
