I blinked in the darkness and found him standing in the bedroom doorway, his dragon book clutched to his chest, his eyes wide with fear. "What kind of monsters, buddy?" I asked softly, careful not to wake Millie. She'd finally fallen asleep an hour ago after tossing and turning, her mind clearly stuck on waiting for test results. "Big ones. With teeth and claws. They were chasing with me." His voice trembled.

She squinted as she made her way down the long corridor, illuminated only by small torches on the walls. The first room she encountered was filled with work tables and old shelves. Broken glass tubes were scattered everywhere. A strange liquid seeped from leaking vessels. Some tables still held items that had not yet been tidied away. Pulsating organ fragments, leather pouches filled with dark liquid that seemed alive, and purple crystals that flickered slowly. "What is all this...?" she whispered. “The black wizards… they’re truly mad.” Small glowing objects caught her attention. With curiosity filling her heart, her hand reached out to touch one of the small crystals.
