“Miss Kyla, are you sure this is where you want to stay? I can arrange something better.”
I shook my head, forcing a small smile. “This is fine, Boris. Thank you.”
He helped me with my suitcase, and as he handed it over, he said softly, “For what it’s worth, Miss Kyla, I don’t think Mr. Hastings wanted it to end this way.”
His words were kind, but they didn’t ease the ache in my chest. “Thank you, Boris,” I whispered before turning away.
