His eyes shifted to a small box on the bedside table. It was the jewelry box Jonathan had given him a few days ago. He knew what was inside—a simple pendant necklace that Jonathan said would protect him. Yet, for some reason, every time he looked at it, he felt not protection, but shackles.
Harley clutched the box tightly before throwing it into the corner of the room. “I am not yours, Jonathan,” he murmured, though his voice was barely audible.
