CHAPTER 50 LOU “Okay. Here’s the result” Everyone became silent again as Kath started speaking. “The losers are...” it feels like there is a drum roll effect that is now playing in our ears. I looked at my friends and they looked nervous as well. Hmm, I think this isn’t scripted because they will not feel the same as much as I do if this is a prank. “The losers are Lester, Eloisa, and Jane” and we sighed as we heard the losers. We also laughed because of the reaction of the three. Hoogh! I feel relieved.

Caesar sat in the living room and watched himself on TV as he shook the hands of well-wishers and smiled at everyone that came forward to congratulate him. He stared intently at Anastasia's beautiful face on the TV, raised a wineglass to his lips and drank deeply. He hoped he had not just made the biggest mistake of his life. Bryan and his two other best friends —Jacob (Jake) Kingsley, Everett (Evie) Rosenberg — had disappointed looks on their faces, but they congratulated him and smiled at him all the same.

Finally, across the construction warning line, he spoke, "Ophelia… I made a huge mistake." I froze mid-step. A few seconds passed, and I kept walking. His voice followed me, still behind me. "I regret it. I was wrong. I thought I could just marry her… but I ended up losing you forever."
