Orith hissed, recoiling.
Alara raised both hands, summoning flame not of rage but of love—images of Ezra smiling, Cassian’s pride, Damien and Seren’s shy affection, the flutter of life inside her. Light poured from her chest, weaving around Orith’s claws, unravelling them strand by strand.
“Choose,” she said, voice calm yet thunderous with power. “Let love free you or fade to dust.”
Orith shrieked, lunging. She could have struck him down, but she released no blade. She opened her palms wider, flooding him with light.
