The male lead was sobbing, while the female lead walked away without looking back.
I murmured, “A love that comes too late is worth less than dirt.”
I turned to look at Hendrick, who was standing in the doorway, drenched and silent.
He was soaked, holding a bag of cold chicken noodle soup.
His camel-colored coat had darkened with water, clinging to him awkwardly.
He looked nothing like himself.
“Why didn’t you call me when you were discharged?” Hendrick asked, his voice tense.
