Alex sat in his wheelchair by the window, staring out into the darkness. His mind churned with thoughts of vengeance, strategy, and the future.

Scarlett tilted her head up, staring at him with a cold expression. "Let go of me!" Instead of releasing her, Wayne tightened his grip. Scarlett could barely breathe from the pressure. Wayne's face was serious. "The moment you rushed into my arms, I didn't want to let you go." Scarlett's heart skipped a beat. Is that why he didn't call immediately? She stopped struggling. Her face pressed against his chest. With her eyes closed, she could feel nothing but his presence.

Slightly running up the stairs to get to Neveah quickly because her cries got louder. Don’t know why but I looked back all of a sudden kind of hoping that he was following behind. There were pillows around her like a barrier so she couldn’t fall from the bed but she was trying to get over it. Picking her up I cradled her in my arm feeding her with the other hand. Walking up and down in the room feeding her, wanting her to go back to sleep. Neveah placed her tiny hands on mine where I held onto the bottle.

And for now, that was enough. She exhaled, pressing her forehead against his. “I’m not leaving,” she whispered. A shuddering breath left Dante’s lips as his arms wrapped around her, pulling her into his chest. He held her tightly, as if letting go would shatter him completely. And maybe, just maybe, Isla had finally won. For the first time, Dante DeLuca had been brought to his knees. And it wasn’t power or violence that had done it. It was love. End of Chapter 55.

I sit up and look at the ground. "You asked me to try to love you, and when I say I do, you pull away," I say as I look up at him. He nods. "You know my history. I haven't known love. Hearing someone say they love me is new to me. I said that because I didn't want you to be overwhelmed. I never actually expected you to love me. I'm not trying to pull away, I swear. It's just different," I swallow harshly as I look away from him.

I flipped to the first chapter and read aloud: “Step One: Show interest. Ask about her hobbies, passions, or things she enjoys doing. If she’s hesitant to share, ask someone close to her—or observe what brings her joy. Once you learn her interests, spend quality time doing those things together. This will show her that you genuinely care.” Hmm. Sounds doable. Just then, I heard footsteps approaching. I quickly hid the book. “Manang, is lunch ready?” I heard Sienna ask. “Not yet, I was about to go to the market. We ran out of some ingredients,” she replied. “I’ll come wi—” Sienna started. “We’ll go together,” I cut in, walking toward them. She looked surprised, but said nothing. Just you wait

But he knows he will be out of her one day and be with the one he loves, the one that makes him happy, his love Isabelle.
