When Best Friends Kiss
(TODD’S POV)
The world shrank to the softness of her lips.
Every worry—Mum’s fury, Leslie’s venom, the wrecked lunch—melted away under the simple, seismic fact that Rory Davis was kissing me back with such intensity.
Her hands, which had been clenched in her lap, came up to tentatively grip the fabric of my jacket. It was that small gesture, that proof of her choice, that undid me completely.
I gentled the kiss, pulling back just enough to see her face. Her eyes were still closed, her dark lashes fanning against cheeks flushed a deep, beautiful pink. Her lips were parted, glistening in the low light from the court’s lamps. She looked dazed, enchanted.
