“Maybe this time, I can fix one of them.” Leo hesitated, fingers frozen over the keys. Their eyes met again, and for once the animosity bled into something raw, something almost tender. Rem pulled Leo into his arms and devoured his lips aggressively, biting and drawing blood and Leo responded with equal vigor after a slight hesitation. Rem pulled back, placed his head on Leo's and whispered, almost too softly to hear, “Brother to brother? Lover to lover?” Leo swallowed hard, then nodded once. “Fight with me. For her.”

After a moment, he asked, “Got any siblings?” “Nope.” “I’ve got a little brother,” he offered, a smile audible in his voice. “Caleb. He’s a menace, but he’s my favorite human. Smart as hell. Talks back to everyone. I’m convinced he’ll either run the world or blow it up.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to intrude. I’m Luca, Damien’s brother.” My mother blinked. “Damien’s brother?” Luca nodded politely. “Yes. I heard about Mr. Valenci, and I just came to check on him. I didn’t want to disturb your rest, so Selena and I spoke out here.” Her brows lifted slightly in surprise. I could see the questions swirling behind her eyes. “Damien never mentioned a brother.” “I’ve been away for quite some time,” Luca said smoothly, not missing a beat. “Business overseas. I recently came back.”

Nyra stared at the screen blankly for a few seconds before raising an eyebrow, “Why am I looking at a picture of Professor Moore?” Elara turned her head sharply to her friend, tears pooling in her eyes, “That's my brother” Nyra inhaled loudly, the sound harsh in the quiet of the room, like she’d been punched in the chest. “What the fuck.”

I would always measure myself against my brother. He was the only reason I was born in the first place. When Scott had been twelve, he was diagnosed with leukemia. He looked down at my hand, rubbing his thumb over my fingers. “You said you have an older brother,” I said, wanting to change the subject. Death wasn’t a great first date topic. “Any other siblings?” “A younger brother, too,” he said, a smile replacing the sadness in his eyes. “Liam is the oldest, I’m the middle, and Freddy is the youngest.” I tried to imagine two more men that looked like Henry. If they were as attractive as he was, they could all go into Hollywood and make millions. The idea of three blue-eyed handsome men was rather breathtaking.
