I sucked in a ragged breath as he removed his hand, only the air was thick with his scent. It rushed right to my head, coaxing a whine from my lips that I barely managed to smother in time. Lycans were a vicious, brutal race. I knew that as well as I knew my own name, yet nothing could’ve prepared me for the half-brothers from hell. The blast should’ve broken your spine. Ryker’s eyes were dark with rage, yet I thought I saw something within them falter. It lasted but a split second, a fraction of a moment.

Lab rats. Her gaze traveled over his features. There were slight differences that would always set him apart from typical humans. The facial bones were more pronounced in the cheeks and chins of the New Species. Their noses also seemed wider and a bit flatter than normal. A lot of them had fuller lips and fang-like teeth. A giant pine tree at the clearing entrance got forcefully pushed from its location. Five gigantic monstrous beings stepped from their concealed positions. They didn't walk on four legs like normal wolves. Instead they used two legs to move around. The massive creatures walked in bipedal motion while their bodies had strong muscle development which made their dark matted fur look terrifying because their eyes glowed with an acidic green light. The exiled rogues are Lycans. The largest beast at the scene stood eight feet tall while wearing a jagged silver crown which he had into his chest. He looked at Kaelen, Caleb, and Jace with pure, murderous intent, his massive claws extending.

Black lycans, their hulking forms looming in the darkness, surrounded us with an ominous, predatory intent. "Oh my God, Adam!" My wife yelled out in panic Panic surged through me as the creatures descended upon us, their fangs bared and primal howls piercing the night. My partner and I stood back to back, our hearts pounding in unison as I prepared to face the ghastly onslaught. The lycans moved with uncanny speed and coordination, their lupine forms darting through the shadows, their glowing eyes an unremitting menace in the darkness. They attacked with unyielding ferocity, their snarls echoing through the night as they launched a relentless assault against us.

Beside them rose Lycan’Dra, the crown’s domain. If Lycandra was instinct, Lycan’Dra was discipline—white marble cities, obsidian towers, runes spilling silver light across the skyline. Lycans lived here: stronger, faster, sharper than any wolf born beyond their borders. They shifted onto two legs—towering beasts with claws and fangs, minds untouched by frenzy. They were generals, tacticians, rulers. From the High Seat, the Lycan Kings governed both Lycans and wolves, their power descending from the First Shift.

My heart pounds, a deafening percussion in my ears that mirrors the thudding of my pursuers. Suddenly, emerging from the inky shadows of the forest, a herd of Lycans appears to block my path. Their forms are grotesque parodies of both man and wolf—upright figures covered in coarse fur, their snouts elongated, their eyes glowing an eerie, malevolent yellow. Muscles ripple under their fur as they snarl, displaying long, lethal fangs that are built to tear flesh from bone. The very air around them seems to thicken, heavy with their ominous presence.

These creatures were so durable and nigh-unkillable that they would have become the apex in a world where Sublime Bodies didn't exist. 137 of such creatures altogether was as much the sign of death as any. The monsters had gotten close enough that the crowd could now see them better. They spotted a large wolf head, yet they were bipedal. They had human feet and wolf claws as hands. "L-Lycans!" "Impossible!" Jester retorted, shaking his head. "It can't be!"

That was where the light was coming from. The light was bright. Too bright. I had to close my eyes. I only opened my eyes when I heard a loud growl in the room. I saw met with a sight to behold. It was Lucan Lycans form. Unlike werewolves, Lycans didn't undergo a full transformation. Lycans were like therianthrope. Their upper body remained the same, but their lower side were like werewolves on steroids, standing on their agile hindlimb.
