When we arrive, Peyton and Nolan are already in Colin’s office with our guest. “Colin, this is Priscilla, the vampire queen and Lyle’s mother,” Nolan says, gesturing towards the pale woman. “Sorry to keep you waiting,” Colin says. “I’m Colin, Alpha of Onyx Flame. This is Paige, my mate.” The woman stands to shake their hands. “Nice to meet each of you.” She turns to Amber and me. Her blackened hair falls to her waist as she moves towards us, her pale eyes trained on my mate.

His eyes are so wide that I can see thin red lines form in the white of his eyes. Sharp silver-streaked hair pulled back. Long scars across her throat like claws once tried to silence her. But her eyes - pale green, unnervingly bright - study me like she already knows what I am. “This her?” she asks Damon. Her voice is rough but steady. “It’s her.”

I wasn’t going to waste my time if this person turned out to be an inexperienced informant. Collina walked in with a lady behind her. Collina looked ever the perfect picture of a beta from the Stormdawn pack. She was dressed in her black pants and with her shirt tucked in as usual, the only slightly glamorous detail was her copper colored hair that was neatly laid down in a small bun.
