“And this isn't your room. Leave.” Maddy didn't stop. She came right up to the side of my chair, leaning down so her face was only inches from mine. The heavy, sweet scent of her perfume filled the air, but it did absolutely nothing for me. It just made my stomach turn. “You’ve been distracted all night,” she murmured, her tone dipping into a smooth, teasing whisper. She reached out, her long, manicured nails lightly trailing down the side of my chest, tracing the fabric of my shirt down to my waist. “You’re always running around for that broken little girl, stressing yourself out over things that don't concern you. You need to relax, Louis.”

Melanie's eyes flashed with anger, and suddenly she clutched her stomach while exclaiming, "My stomach... Is the baby coming?!" Henry's face twisted in sudden panic, and he swept Melanie into his arms, bolting for the door. As he rushed by, Melanie's hand shot out, gripping my arm with a fierce tug. I stumbled, crashing to the ground as Wren's gasp echoed in my ears. Pain washed over me, turning my face ghostly pale. Wren, shaking, lifted me up, her voice breaking as she called for a doctor. Through the blur, I caught Henry hesitating for a split second, but then, he was gone, not once looking back.

I shoved all the snack wrappers and trash into the bag and crossed the rock over to Madelaine. “What? Why? I was hoping we’d stay till it’s dark,” she whined. “The sun is setting anyway,” I said, holding out my hand to her. “C’mon...” “Maddy, there’s a boat approaching and I cannot tell if it’s a hundred percent safe, so we have to leave now!” I explained. She took my hand and got up, and then I carried her and crossed back to the slope and walked back up with Winter. “Can Winter eat humans? Or like raw meat?” Madelaine asked, leaning into me.

The three beastmen who'd been driven out looked at each other in confusion. Soren, Adrian, and Caspian couldn't understand it at all. Their transformations had been modeled after numerous beastmen. In their previous life, Lydia couldn't take her eyes off these beastmen. After finally managing to transform, I had kicked them out.
