I watched them disappear inside, and then I turned and looked up and down the street. A shop caught my eye a few doors down. I recognized the building as an old tea shop from back when I lived here. Someone had converted it, and the window display had small glass bottles arranged on tiered shelves in the sunlight. The sign above the door read “Perfumes for the Soul”. I thought about Claire, who loved perfume. She had been working so hard lately, keeping things running smoothly at the HQ, and we hadn’t had time to have a normal chat in ages. I recalled her talking about her perfume collection, and figured a small gift wouldn’t hurt.
