The Luna He Lost
I waited, heart pounding, as wind rustled the trees and shadows lengthened.
Then they emerged.
Four figures, cloaked in red, faces masked.
But their magic was unmistakable. Not wild, like ferals. Controlled. Sharp. Wolves forged in fire.
The leader stepped forward and pulled down her hood.
She was older than me, with eyes like polished obsidian and a scar that ran down one cheek like lightning.
“I’m Maeve,” she said. “Former Beta of the Scarlet Dagger. And if you’re Selene… then the stories didn’t do you justice.”
