Rita laid out the parchment—yellowed with age, borrowed from Gogo’s private stash—and the silver dagger, its blade etched with runes. "Ready?" Freda asked. Rita nodded. Pru grinned.

Then she picked up the deck of cards again.

The lights flicker and dim, offering them some privacy. With one snap of her fingers, the candles from around them suddenly ignite, providing them with a soft hue of light. “I must know if you are ready for this. You must be accepting an open of the results that will come out of tonight. Do you understand that fate and your mother are looking out for you? Will you accept the plan that they have set out for you?”

Everyone else couldn't help but laugh too. "Actually, I should thank you both," Penny continued. With Woody behind her, she wasn't afraid of them at all. "If it wasn't for your aggressive bidding, I would've been the one stuck with this loss!" "You!" Jasmine was seething, and her eyes were filled with rage. Suddenly, Magdalena had an idea. "Yes, they're magical," Marianne said. "Promise not to tell. They're very special." She held up another card. The mist covered its face, and among the swirls I saw a young man standing a little way off, visible from the back. The image bounced and danced as I heard Marianne's breathy laughter.

"It’s just a game, dear, nothing truly magical in it." "I think there is." Kiara said excitedly. "What does my future say?" Amelia looked at the first card, masking the frown that threatened to cross her face. The card held a picture of a beast with red eyes. "What does the card say?!" Liam asked curiously. "It’s a wolf…" Amelia said, showing them the card. No, it wasn’t a wolf, it was a Lycan, she thought. "Oh, a wolf," Kiara asked with a tilt of her head. "It’s very ugly…"
