The Darkest Temptation

The Darkest Temptation

I can see it in the way he looks at me. My mind goes to all the possibilities. It's a dark thought, but it's a real one. I'm lucky I got out. I hold my arm out to him. "They put this on me." He frowns, stalking closer. "Let me see." I brace myself for his proximity, watching him grab my arm, holding it up so he can view the bracelet. Not impressed, he snaps it off in one swift movement, bending it in his hand. Immediately my magic rears up within me, surging back through my veins. Whatever the technology is that the Noble's have access to, I never want to see it again.

But they could keep this quiet. “Well, at least you left something for me.” He smiled and moved forward. The wolves, mostly, were in their human form and watch him as he set up to freeze the golem in what amounted to was a sleep or maintenance mode. Humans believe magic is the exact opposite to science or even anti science. But that was functionally untrue. So much of science started as magic. The problem with identifying magic as a science was the fact that humans didn’t have a grasp of the energies used and how to manipulate them. Energy was everywhere and true magic users, witches, druids, and mages, all harnessed these energies. Objects were described as holding power in magic, but in sc

The Twelve Scions

The Twelve Scions

"You picked the arcane, so some magic spells have to be involved. You can imbue certain effects from a magic spell on the idol after it has successfully integrated with the energy." "But I'm not a magus and neither are you. So... what then?" "Oh don't worry I can just input what's available from the database." Len was taken aback by the surprisingly modern solution. Despite already learning of magitech - technologies made and used by magi, humans with magical powers - Len still couldn't quite believe it. He was picking a magic spell to cast on the idol in a manner that was no different to downloading something from the internet. His perception of traditional magic was shaken.

"Yes, I did hit a wall. But that is only because in my pack, we don't have the facilities for this kind of work. Our science team... well, they aren't really science team people. They focus almost entirely on ancient moon magic, rituals, and traditional healers who can mend broken bones with herbs. They don't care about advanced genetics or biochemical cellular structures. They don't focus on going far in technological advancements, so I ran out of equipment." "I have the best labs in the capital," Magnus said, his voice dangerously close to my ear. "I have technology that could help." I nodded then looked up at him before feeling something whine inside me. I couldn’t understand why I was fe

No rhyme or reason, but that was the gods' doing. "Have you known your friends in this realm for a long time?" "Yes," I snapped, my impatience to leave making me cranky. She ignored the tone of my voice. "What will be the strangest thing I see?" I sighed; it would do me no good to put her off. "Technology. The dragon realm exists on magic. Earth has very little magic, so they are able to build and control toys that act like magic." "That makes no sense. There is no magic in my realm, and we don't have this technology you talk about."

I asked in surprise. "That doesn't work here. It doesn't work in Sage's palace. " She said. "What do you mean?" I couldn't help but ask. "Sage is involved in black magic. He had put a restraint on appearing and disappearing powers. Only him can do that in his palace. We can do it once we're outside this room, we'll be able to." She explained. "Then don't you have any power that can help with that?"I asked. "I'm drained, Melanie." I arched my brows. "My powers are gone." She admitted and I gasped.

The Hero King

The Hero King

So far the date seemed to go well, he had managed to see more of this world, who was weirdly more developed than it thought thanks to what was known as magitek. Magitek was a form of using magic by imbuing the effects of a spell in a device. It wasn't anyone could do without years upon years of research. In this kingdom, the only one specializing in magitek were witches, making the Walpurgisnacht one of the richest organizations in the whole world, their only concurrent being the dwarves and the angels. Monopoly was truly a scary thing. "Well, let's continue our date." They decided to leave the central zone and walk toward the South zone.

“It’s just technology.” “No,” the fae insists. “There is something else. The essence of a dark creature.” “Yes,” I agree. “I can sense it, but it’s still not magic.” Why can’t they see it? Why don’t they understand? Oberon claims that he travels to the human realms all the time, yet he fails to understand that technology and magic are not the same thing. “I think what Mara is trying to say,” Johnathan comes to my rescue, “is that human technology and inventions can often look like magic to us.”

Mage of Wolves

Mage of Wolves

I thought back to the questions the deputy had asked me, about whether or not Raven had shifted when she was hit by the debris, for example. “They do,” Grandma said. “The magic allows for humans who need to know what we are to be able to understand. Otherwise, the spells cast by generations of our kind keep it undecipherable. Say, for example, your sister were to call one of her friends in California and tell her that you were a mage, or that your friends were shifters. Her friends wouldn’t be able to comprehend it. At the very least, they wouldn’t believe it. The same can be said for video recordings, photographs and the like. They are unable to capture what we are. Whenever someone tries t

Very enjoyable. It's great that it's more of a polyamory than a man harem like a lot of recent books are. The characters personalities are well defined and do not stray or muddle into a bunch with the same attitude.

I love this book and think the author is very talented. my only concern is the cost of reading the book is around 100 dollars. I wish it was broken up into two or even three books but it is worth the time if you want to spend that much on 1 book.

Blood Bound

I asked Luci while he and I walked towards the Palace. “Many vampires go to the human world nowadays.” The Palace was in view, “The human realm has a lot of entertainment after all.” “Why not just bring it here?” I asked. “The magic realm doesn’t allow it.” I started seeing some royal guards. “It doesn’t allow it?” “Even if you try to bring it here, the portal which we cross through throws it out before you enter the magic space.” “Why though?” “To preserve the magic.” “Does technology ruin it or something?”
