“I’m sorry father,I had to attend to an important client.” He apologized before walking to the other side of the table.
At the head of the table, Xavier leaned back lazily in his chair, casually twirling a pen between his fingers. His expression looked more of amusement, a stark contrast to the fury radiating from Charles. Xavier had always had this effect on him…an unnerving, irritating confidence that made Charles feel like nothing more than a pawn in a game he didn’t want to play. Or a fool.
