I smirked, satisfied with the shock written across his face. “I – We -You were dead.” He stammered. “We looked for you until the trail ran cold. The only thing that made sense was that you had been killed. I grieved for you.” “I’m sure that’s what your assassin bitch told you. If you hadn’t chosen her over my mother, she would still be alive.” “What happened to Maggie?” Lucas demanded. “She was murdered by the hunter mob. A direct result of Deven’s poor choices, but if we hadn’t needed to run to be safe from your mate, he never would have been in the position to make those choices.”

I could still see the horror in the young wolf’s eyes, the way his life had been snuffed out in an instant. Meg knelt by the spot, her fingers brushing over the ground as she studied the area. She was silent for several minutes, her focus intense as she took in every detail. I watched her, my heart pounding, curious to know what an outsider’s pair of eyes and nose would find- not that she was an outsider. Just that she hadn’t been around when the m*rders began. I knew she was searching for something we had missed, something that might give them a clue about who or what was responsible for the killings.

Maggie said with difficulty and I saw her hands on the steering wheel tighten. “ I don’t know how my mom did it, but the video disappeared from Patricia’s phone. But by then, it was already too late. Scott couldn’t face the fact that I would be in ruin if he didn’t have fuck Patricia even though he now had a mate. The next thing I heard was that he killed himself. He took some kind of poison harmful to werewolves. I couldn’t even attend his funeral Maeve,” Maggie said and began to sob. Wow!! That was a lot to take in. I began to pacify Maggie. She looked really vulnerable at this moment.

"My daughter's name is Maggie. She is a kind child and loves children, so from a young age she aspired to do education and charity work. Nineteen years ago, we were visiting a small town as a family when someone kidnapped us. It was your mom who saved us. She was our savior. Later, when we returned to New York, Maggie still talked to your mother on the phone often and they became good friends." "I also remember that the weather was very nice that day. Maggie wanted to go to the museum where we met your mother again. She was being chased at the time and was covered in blood. Maggie wanted to call the police, but your mother stopped her. Finally, Maggie came up with a way to try to lure the ba

“No, Mother. That’s not necessary. I see everything on your face. I had hoped that the information I just received concerning your… participation… in Da’s death was simply rumor, but you really are capable of killing, aren’t you, Mother?” “Mary Margaret!” Mildred warned. The police officer looked much more interested in the conversation now. “I don’t know what you’re speaking of, but I assure you, I was just as shocked when your father passed away as anyone.” Meg couldn’t say more, not right then anyway. She had secretly hoped for a confession, that her mother would admit what she had done, and while the answer was written all over her smug face, Meg realized she should’ve known better than

"This whole thing reminds me of another case. One that got buried." Mills knew. Of course he knew. We'd been partners for three years. "Maggie." "My sister wasn't a single mother. She was a college student. But she was vulnerable. Parents died, working two jobs, behind on tuition." I opened Maggie's file, the one I wasn't supposed to have. "She started dating this older guy. Rich, successful, swept her off her feet." "Laura, don't do this to yourself." "She called me the night before she died. Said she'd found something in his apartment. Photos of other girls who looked like her. Girls who'd disappeared." My voice cracked. "I told her she was being paranoid. Told her to talk to him about it.

He stood next to Maggie, waiting for her to tell him what to do, to say what she needed. He heard a sound behind him and from the rubber-soled foot falls, he knew it was the nurse again. He didn’t turn around; he knew she was there to start the process of forever separating Maggie and Rita and he closed his eyes. Joe almost sighed when a doctor walked over to the monitor, turned it off, and then checked Rita. He glanced at his watch. “Time of death… three forty-three a.m.” Maggie didn’t give any sign that she’d heard him.

“Why was I not informed immediately? We would have called a healer to try to help her.” “We did nay think it was poison at first. Mary has been feeling poorly with the babe. When she needed to sit a spell we just let her. The meal twas over and there was just the cleaning up. We thought she just...” Maggie started sobbing again, then closed her eyes and tried to compose herself. “I thought she’d fallen asleep. When she slumped over her hand knocked the plate to the floor. That’s when I noticed she was a funny colour so I ran to her and ignored that the dog was eating the scraps. Mary came around and asked for a drink and someone to fetch her husband. I cleaned up and then sat with her to wai

My mother, Samantha, believed I was born a liar. Because she was deceived by my father's sweet words in her youth and abandoned after giving birth to me and my sister, Mia, she harbored a deep, bitter hatred for lies. She begged a witch for two magic rings. The rule was simple: if the wearer lied, the ring would glow red and burn them with magic. Mia's ring never hurt her, even when she broke a vase and blamed it on me. But if I simply said, "I'm thirsty," my ring would sear my flesh until I screamed. At first, I tried to defend myself, but Mom would just say, "The ring doesn't lie. Only through repeated punishment can your wicked soul be cleansed." After thousands of burns, even I started t

"Then...I will be going now. Thanks for your time err...Maggie!" "Of course my Alpha...I still feel pained by her death,"Maggie said, bending her head in sadness. She looked touched. Liam turned and walked away. Like he planned, Maggie fell into the traps he set. It was obvious they had a hand in the death of Ms James but now all he needed was how to get the confession from their mouth without having to coerce them. "Jakob, what do you think?" He asked Jakob as they got back home and Jakob was just about to hook the horses to their shed.
