Our eyes met briefly, and then she turned away, walking to the fridge and opening it as if she suddenly needed something inside, pretending everything was normal. That was when Mrs. Grimshaw appeared in the doorway. I saw Maisie's body go stiff, her hand freezing on the fridge handle. "Mom." She said quickly. "You're back." Mrs. Grimshaw stared at her, her eyes narrowing, before her gaze shifted and landed on me.

Make Believe: A New Luna

Make Believe: A New Luna

It makes that light glitter over the door again. Seemingly satisfied, Maisie turns to us, a finger to her lips. Another complicated hand motion and the sounds of sex fill the room. Moans, grunts, dirty talk – anything that you could imagine. More specifically, moans, grunts, and words in both Maisie and my voices. My eyes dart to hers, but she’s already moving to wall with a large tapestry covering it. Maisie lifts the tapestry, presses two stones in an odd pattern, and the walls gives way to a passageway – a staircase leading down below the castle.

Claimed By My Ex Boyfriend's Dad

Laura. *One Week Later* “Seriously? That's your new role now?” I pause by the staircase, drilling Maisie with a look. She's standing by the door, holding my car keys, clearly ready to drive me to work. That has been her new role since I returned and found out she was worried sick about me. The moment I told her Liam kidnapped me, Maisie went ballistic. She tracked Liam on his social media handles and spat curses that could last one a hundred years at him.

Married a Secret Billionaire

Married a Secret Billionaire

Quimby's orders. During the argument that had ensued, Maisie had taken a misstep and fallen from a great height. When Daniel had seen her again, she had been lying in the emergency room, her life hanging by a thread. He had investigated those people, but they had disappeared as if they'd evaporated into thin air. There had been no security cameras in the area, so this was still an unsolved mystery. Ever since losing her child, Maisie had seemed to be living in a daze. It was only then that Daniel had understood his feelings for her and been consumed by regret. Later on, Maisie had lost her memory and gone to Centrolis.

Mint Mocha
I've only read two books on this app. This is the second and by far the best one. The storylines are fluid, the characters are endowed with personality and most importantly the writer makes them come together seamlessly. Ideally, this is what the experience should be, uncomplicated and enjoyable.

I like the story. However, the cost is high for books on here and they are never ending. Not that the chapters are long, but it is almost the same outlying as the other books from this author. Sometimes it takes a moment to see what characters they have actively engaged in that chapter.

The Ex-Wife Guide: Mr. Fergerson Persists On Lavish Affection

“I never planned to fire you. Please go and give your statement to the police, okay?” Fearing Penny would change her mind, Maisie quickly bowed her head and left. After she left, Penny raised her hand to rub her temples. Maisie had been working here for two years, and her father had never realized she was his own sister-in-law. Just as she was about to open a file next to her, Caleb sent her a message. He sent it to her personal number. That meant this message was for Caleb’s wife. It was just two very short words. [Take it.]

I’m officially done with this book. I can’t even remember the names of all the characters. What happened to the doctor looking for the long lost heiress? Instead of adding unnecessary characters why not finish one plot and move on. I wish everyone would stop reading this book maybe author would fini

THE MAID SERIES

THE MAID SERIES

“Sir, I will get back to you later. I have to go now; she said and cut the connection before he said something else. The man was heartless. ‘I pray he never goes through what I am going through right now’ she thought to herself and faced Dennis. “Good morning”, she said to him and bent her head. “Good morning to you, Yvonne. Or should I say Rose? I think we have a lot to discuss right now but let’s start with introductions. I am Dennis McCaulay and you are ...” he said and got lost in her beauty. “I am Rose McGabe”, she said, still not looking up. “Okay. I am sorry about your mom, but I know that she will come out of this stronger and healthier. Just have faith and be strong”, he said to her

The Male Lead Became My Devoted Puppy

The Male Lead Became My Devoted Puppy

How did we end up with the male lead pointing a gun at the female lead? [Even if the male and female leads are headed for a bad ending, he can still be with the villainess!] Maisie's expression slowly became twisted. "This is a measly low-level world, yet each of you insist on causing trouble for me…" She vanished on the spot, then reappeared behind Elias. "Watch out!" With a sharp crack, Elias dropped to his knees. In the next second, the gun appeared in Maisie's hand instead. "But it's fine. I can kill her first, then retrain you from scratch."

The Millionaire Ghost

The Millionaire Ghost

the woman said as if she meant the exact opposite, she turned on her heels which would look better on a runway show than a law office and left the room. Maisie took a deep breath and looked at her new team who were looking at her in disgust and scowls. " hello, my name is Maisie Williams. " " Nice to meet you. Miss Williams " a short pot-bellied man said not to her face but her chest. " Err, the same to you? " Maisie said with a question visible in her tone. The man pulled his eyes up. " can you get some files from the secretary on the Winston case. She will direct you on your future duties. "

THE ALPHA’S RUNAWAY LOVER

THE ALPHA’S RUNAWAY LOVER

Keith Maisie denied that she killed Rueben or that they were lovers. I wanted to believe her, I really did but the scarf in his room could not be a coincidence. But I walked out of her room with a slight limp and a determination to find out the truth myself. But as I walked towards my room, I heard someone say Maisie's name. I stopped and listened. Two maids were whispering to themselves about Maisie. “I'm telling you he must be her lover!”

Frequently Asked Questions

I stumbled upon 'Maisie Dobbs' a few years ago, and it quickly became one of my favorite mystery series. The story follows Maisie, a brilliant psychologist and investigator in post-World War I London. What sets it apart is how deeply it explores the psychological scars of war—not just on soldiers, but on everyone. Maisie herself is a former nurse, and her empathy makes her detective work feel uniquely personal. The first book starts with her opening her own agency, but flashbacks reveal her journey from maid to scholar to detective, all shaped by the war. Winspear’s writing is so atmospheric; you can almost smell the tea and hear the cobblestone streets. It’s less about gritty crime and more about human resilience—I’ve reread it just to soak in the quiet moments where Maisie connects the dots.

One thing I adore is how the series balances mystery with historical depth. The aftermath of WWI lingers in every corner—shell-shocked veterans, grieving families, societal shifts. Maisie’s cases often tie into these themes, like uncovering secrets buried by the war. It’s not a fast-paced thriller, but the slow burn rewards you with rich character arcs. By the end, you’re invested in Maisie’s growth as much as the mysteries she solves. If you enjoy detective stories with heart, this is a gem.
