Breaking free from his lies

Breaking free from his lies

Although sounds were not recorded, I instantly recognized the document in Preston's hand. "Is that my resignation letter?" I asked myself. Yes, it was! It was the letter I had submitted. In the video, the HR manager looked shaken, his expression bordering on tears as he tried to explain something. I could see his fingers trembling. Preston, however, didn't even spare the poor HR manager a glance, his cold gaze only fixed on my letter. At exactly three minutes and forty seconds into the video, Preston, who had been sitting motionless the entire time, lazily waved a hand. The HR manager, as if granted a reprieve, practically fled the room with his head down.

Mafia's Dangerous Addiction

Mafia's Dangerous Addiction

I and Manuel said at the sane time, and I stood up, my lips parting. He still had the blood-stained pants on, and he had probably come down for something else. "Vector, I..." "You lied to me, Manuel. This is not about me, but I remember you saying that you would never lie to me." Manuel swallowed hard, then turned to me, his eyes pleading. I couldn't say a word, and I wasn't sure what Vector would want now. Vector said nothing more, just let his eyes dart between both of Manuel's, before he turned away, leaving both of us behind.

King Of The Ruby Crown

King Of The Ruby Crown

the stranger said, “Remember, we both want to achieve our goal.” I turn my head and look at him over my shoulder. The man seated right in front of my desk was the leader of the hunters. His name was Emanuel, and he had a fucking serious reputation. Not only because he was an outstanding leader or hunter, but because he was good at deceiving people. His talent to lie and enamored anyone was a unique one. I knew what his intentions were all along. I know he was half lying to me, but I was not stupid because long ago, I could deceive him as well. He thought I didn’t know what his intentions indeed were, but I was. I was no naïve or stupid person.

Marked By Midnight

Marked By Midnight

“He… was my uncle. And like many of you, I trusted him, but he deceived us all.” She paused, choosing her words carefully. “And I know it’s hard to believe, but he took his own life after admitting everything. I’m sure many of you saw it happen yourselves.” For a second, there was silence. Then the crowd stirred. “He was a good man,” one old woman said softly. “He helped me when I lost my husband,” another added. “That's how evil present itself, with lies,” one cautioned. “He wasn’t greedy,” someone insisted. “He gave everything he had.”

Kisses Under the Moonlight

Kisses Under the Moonlight

Nikolai Dela Vegariding off into sunset
“You don’t have to ask. You’ve become her target.” “But why?” He put down his hand. “I guess it’s the same reason I find you odd. Before it’s too late, tell me what I wanted to know about you.” “I have nothing else to say about me. What you’re seeing now is the real me. I don’t have any secret.” The man’s stare became heavier, and he took a deep breath. “There’s no point helping you if you’re really acting this way. I hated humans who love to lie.”

However, I still had to be sure, so I asked, "You are certain? I hate being lied to." "Ironic indeed. You lie for a living." He replied. "A job I enjoy doing, one you introduced me to. Besides, you are changing the subject." "I'm fine. Enough of your nonsense. Now go back and stand with the rest. I can't keep turning to look at you while I speak." He really did look fine, no man in his early eighties could look this healthy if he was dying, so I had to believe him. Douglas was the most truthful man I knew, one who never lied unless it was for professional reasons. Without another word, I walked to my spot, completely ignoring Miguel’s stare.

Sinner

Sinner

He expressed he’s in love with me so if he really loved me, answering these questions wouldn’t be offensive to him. I couldn’t detect if he was really going to lie to me or it could be that he’s absolutely an expert in covering things up. If so, then he’s a genius at masking his expressions, “I never touched a woman before you, believe it or not,” He answered but it was just too hard to believe. “Why?” Of course, I had to interrogate. This wasn’t as simple as it seemed. “Because I didn’t want to. I never liked the idea of a common woman touching me, it wasn’t my way,” He replied back. Strange to hear such a thing from a mafia guy.

I enjoyed the story. A bit different than the typical mafia playboy role. Lol I don’t think I can look at strawberries and blueberries the same .... Few open topics left open (Andrea, Lucian’s sisters, the girl with nikola)? Overall I liked the book. Thank you
Allie
Chapter 36 and the first 5 pages of Chapter 37 are repeated from Chapter 35. Also, there are some grammatical errors. However, the storyline was captivating and definitely worth reading. Didn’t like what Luciano did to get Jennifer, but he redeemed himself. Loved the ending.

Reborn Of The Billionaire's Princess

Reborn Of The Billionaire's Princess

“Do you know her?” The man leaned to have a closer look, recognition flickered across his face briefly but he quickly masked it and shook his head. Too late. Charles had already seen it. “I’ve never met that woman in my life”. Charles leaned back in the chair, his gaze studying him as if contemplating what to do. The man held his gaze but his body trembled in fear under Charles’s intimidating gaze. “People who say never, always tend to lie”. He gulped. “I swear. I haven’t”.

You Were Always My Everything

was a man? He was wearing a wig? Then he and Venettio burst out laughing. "April Fools honey." I hit Venettio again and I was teary. The man left after taking off his wig and I walked away from him. He hugged me from behind and I could feel him still laughing. "I'm sorry. But, it was funny." "I was so scared." He turned me around and said, "I would never chat. I'm a mafia man or I was. We don't cheat darling. Loyalty is in our blood. You trusted me, that's why you didn't hit me."

A Promise He Never Kept

A Promise He Never Kept

His voice cracked as he went on, "We almost got married, didn't we? You're just saying this to upset me, right?" Hearing that, Dad slammed his palm on the table. "Are you saying my daughter's lying to you? That our entire family is deceiving you? "Christopher's a fine young man. He's respectful and dependable. Even though Gerry just agreed to start seeing him, we all believe they'll end up married." I quickly stepped forward to calm him, pressing my hand to his chest. Then, I turned to Oliver and said, "Oliver, stop bringing up that childhood engagement. It was just something the adults joked about. It doesn't mean anything. You're the one who said that yourself. Don't you remember?"
