My boots made a heavy sound on the hardwood as I crossed the room in three big steps. Lucian did not look at the doctor. He looked straight at me, his lower lip trembling slightly before he bit down on it to make his face look stiff. I reached out my large hand, wrapping all the way around his wrist. I pulled him toward the sofa. He sat down on the cushions, shaking. I sat down next to him. "The test takes ten minutes to give us the results," Vance said, placing his medical case on the marble coffee table. He plugged a high-tech machine into the wall outlet. "The machine can find the proteins and indicators right away."

Harold replied with an assured tone, “We will examine the cure first. It will take one hour to get the result. After that, we will start the procedure.”

When he noticed that I was calm already, he turned to the doctor, "Hurry up with the results, please. We need it urgently." The doctor heaved an exasperated sigh, obviously frustrated at the situation he was going through and that made me open my mouth to speak but Henry tapped me lightly. "We can't rush the test results. It's what I've been trying to say since morning! The lab needs proper time to analyze the samples thoroughly, and if we cut corners, the results could be compromised. The soonest you can expect the results is on Saturday. Just wait two more days, in a blink of an eye, it'll be here."

Frost looked at his watch and replied softly, "Just three minutes." Bianca widened her eyes in surprise and whispered, "No way!" She felt like it had been a long, long time. Frost started to explain enthusiastically, "Research abroad has found that 7-13 minutes is the ideal duration." Bianca looked inexplicably at Frost, who, though handsome, also had a kind of silliness about him.

“Then we will need to consider other options.” My mother looked troubled. “We’ll do everything we can to clear it quickly,” assured Dr. Hans. He sounded very confident. “How long will it take for the infection to clear?” I asked. “About forty-eight to seventy-two hours,” came his response. “What kind of infection do I have?” my mother asked Dr. Hans. “It appears to be a mild upper respiratory infection. Your blood tests show elevated white blood cells and a small amount of bacterial activity, which suggests your body is fighting something.”

She told him how much she loved the feel of his rough hands almost every time he cupped her breasts. The technician interrupted their lustful thoughts and collected four samples each from Rafael and Eva. He was packing up when Ruhi realized the test wasn't an instant one. "How long for the results?" She asked the tech but Rafael replied, "Mostly two, sometimes three days." "Oh. Let's eat candy, Eva." She wanted to send the kid back to her mom quickly, now that she had something else to do as the test results would take at least two days, and she couldn't wait that long.

The instruction said to wait for three minutes before checking the result. I didn't think I could look at it alone, so I called him back in. “We would have to wait for three minutes.” I told him and he nodded his head. I could almost see the wheels turning in his head as he held my left hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze, I squeezed his back. This was the longest three minutes of our life and the result might or might not change our lives. Exactly three minutes later, I uttered. “It's time.” I whispered softly to him.

Elena was already on her feet and moving toward the drainage tunnel access. "How long before the vapor concentration in your shaft becomes critical," she said. "Twelve minutes," Marcus said. "Maybe fourteen."

Surely they couldn't all be wrong? The instructions blurred as I read them, my hands shaking so badly I almost dropped the first stick. Three minutes. That's all I had to wait. Three minutes that felt like three years as I paced the small space, trying to breathe normally. Gas whined outside the door, picking up on my anxiety. "I'm okay, buddy," I called softly, but my voice cracked on the words. The first line appeared slowly, then the second. Clear and undeniable. Positive. "No." I ripped open the second test with numb fingers. "No, no, no."

“Let’s proceed with the check-up immediately so we can understand what’s going on.” “Okay, Doctor.” He stood up, and I followed him as we moved into the examination room. The tests took time. Different machines, different procedures. At some point, I stopped keeping track of it. By the time we were done, nearly an hour had passed. We returned to his office, and I sat quietly, waiting for the results. My gaze remained fixed on the table as he reviewed the reports. A few moments later, he finally looked up at me. “Mr. Bruno,” he began calmly, “based on the tests we carried out, it’s clear that you’ve been managing your condition well.”
