Marie Brennan Novels & Stories

The call came just after midnight. Isabella Lorenzo… now Moretti by marriage, was busy pouring herself a well earned glass of wine after another long day tolerating her new family. As she eased herself gently into the couch, her phone lit up and started vibrating. “Should have put you on DND” she muttered in annoyance as she reached for the phone. It was an nknown number, and she didn't usually fancy answering unknown numbers. Her instincts however kept pushing, and she eventually took the call.

She cackled and intentionally stepped on my feet. I groaned in pain and managed to stand up. “Alpha finally dumped her for me, and now she's salty,” Tracy spat out. “Brianna, you have to see her face when he rejected her. What a silly goof!” She hissed. Brianna shrieked excitedly, flashing her hands in the air. “Wow, Lena, you are really done for. You can't keep a man, you lost your mom, and your father couldn't even live long enough to take care of us. You must be bad luck,"

I paused a moment before saying softly, "Let's get divorced, Ian." It was true that I was an uncouth woman. I grew up in the orphanage, and I had no family other than the old orphanage director. Three days ago, the director passed away and was scheduled to be cremated, and I asked Ian if he could accompany me to the funeral, but he was busy accompanying Jewel and did not pick up any of my calls. I ran in the rain, trying to get a taxi, only to end up in an accident right outside the building of Langham Corporation. My hands were crushed under the car tires. When the ambulance failed to arrive, I begged the passersby to call Ian.

Do I have dementia? “Oh dear, you look confused.” She says as she laughs a little, “Come with me, I feel like I should introduce you to some people.” She says and I blindly follow her. Too confused to know what’s going on. “This is Gwen, Harry, Marie, Penelope, Daphne, Kyle, Daryl, Juliette, Sarah, Seb, Ron, Terry and of course Dave.” My eyes widen when I realize what is happening. Oh. My. God.

The old lady laughed tenderly as a mother does to her favorite child, "I am Marie, Dom's nana. Ever since my daughter died I have been taking care of Dom, Lily, and their father." "Uh, mam? I don't want to be here, can you please help me out of-" Desperate for her freedom, Iris was interrupted by the door opening, and in walked an extremely pretty young girl looking slightly younger than Iris wearing a formal professional suit and walked like a supermodel with the same tender smile that Lady Marie was supporting,

Don't be surprised, Billionaire's drive as well. I reach Marie's place at 3:55, I walk to her apartment and knock on the door. Marie opens it within a few seconds. Marie was standing there in a orange sleeveless dress that fell to the floor. Few strands of her hair was hanging by her face and rest were pulled back into a pony. She looked breathtaking as usual. "Hi" Marie smiles. "Hello. You look gorgeous" I say. Marie's cheeks temporarily redden, "Thank you. You cleaned up pretty nicely"

“Thank you so much.” “I don’t understand.” Her friend expressed confused. Marie ran to a room in the pack house and knocked. “Yes?” The bored woman who opened ten door asked. “I need to speak to Jeff.” Marie said. “Alpha Liam’s son.” “Who is that nanny?” Jeff asked. “It’s none of your business Jeff. Keep on counting those stones.” She said. “He is serving punishment right for being intolerable as usual. You have to come back later.” The woman said proceeding to close the door.

Meeting with the event coordinator, Marie, went smoothly. She was a petite brunette with a curvy figure, round face, and wide, bright green eyes that stood out against her tanned skin. Her bubbly and open personality set me at ease the moment we met. She’d done a great job asking all the questions in the few short weeks before the wedding and rolling it all together in time. Granted, I wasn’t a bridezilla. I let her fill in a lot of the blanks. In the end, I had a feeling she liked having the freedom to plan a wedding for a bride who wasn’t so specific on every single detail. Especially with the short timeline.

’’ A familiar squeaky voice drawled beside her and she wasn’t surprised to see Brianna Foster and Marione Bridges. Brianna was the school’s resident queen bee and a bank heiress, she’s recently engaged to an oncologist. She has a loud mouth and is overly dramatic. Marione on the other hand was a staunch follower, always trailing behind Brianna like some stray puppy. She’s a successful model and the newest endorser for the Four-Clover beauty products–a subsidiary of the fashion company owned by Jake Calloway. ‘’Hello to you too Brianna.’’ Van dropped sourly. ‘’I don’t know what you’re talking about.’’

hear someone say from the other end of the table. Almost every girl is looking, but it was her gaze that was the most frightening. If I remember correctly, Zariah told me her name was Mareli, from the Passion Pack. her hair is a fiery red - not orange - that commands the attention in the room by itself. Her expression is hostile "Nah, just Fate," Brynn replies carelessly. Is a fight about to start here? Mareli narrows her eyes. "I seriously think it's cheating that you got to see Malik before anyone else. Especially since you broke the rules...Do you really think Malik is going to want a Luna who doesn't do what she's told?"
