Bruno's men fought their way through the building, and soon they reached the main room. Bruno and his team stormed into the room, guns blazing. De Mario and his men were caught off guard, and they quickly fell to the ground, dead or wounded. Bruno and his team advanced on De Mario, who was the only one left standing. "De Mario," Bruno said. "It's over. You're finished." De Mario smiled. "Is that so?" he said. "We'll see about that." De Mario raised his gun and fired, but Bruno was too quick for him. He ducked behind a table, and the bullet whizzed past his head. De Mario fired again, but Bruno was able to dodge the bullet again.

With that, he gave me a cold look, then turned and walked back into Fiona’s hospital room without looking back. My heart froze as his cold back disappeared. I heard him gently comfort Fiona. I could not believe Nigel thought I was a bad person, even though he had no proof at all. I rubbed my sore eyes and was about to leave when Jora came out. She leaned close to me with a smug smile. “So what if you’re his crush? You still lose to people like us. “If you’re smart, go inside, kneel, and apologize to Fiona. Maybe Nigel would like you a little more.”

Costello signals to Mario to open the locks and he obliges immediately. Horror blasts through my veins as Mario is yanked out of the car like a common criminal. Costello pulls him to the front and within seconds, punches start to fly. “What did you do to them, you traitor! Answer me!” Every single one of Costello’s words is followed by a punch. For five full seconds, I sit in shock, staring at the horrifying sight in disbelief. Mario never attempts to fight back. His head is lowered to the ground. He only trembles as he’s hit over and over again.

A low, guttural growl rumbled from Mario's throat, reverberating through the room like thunder. “Whatever you see man." The man replied, pecking my forehead. I recoiled. Before I could process what was happening, Mario was already moving. He crossed the room with the speed of a predator. The man beside me barely had time to react before Mario grabbed him and flung him against the walls like a rag doll. The man groaned weakly, but Mario wasn’t finished. Before he could even try to stand, Mario descended on him, raining punches on him.

Mario spoke. "I am fine, Mario; you can go ",, Crystal smile. "Are you sure?" Mario asked, and crystal nodded. "Are you both together " mia spoke, eyeing Mario, who walks away from their sight. "no, he is just a friend", Crystal spoke, looking down. "well, it has been a long time, crystal," Mia said, sipping her drink. "you remember me," Crystal asked, surprised. Mia rolled her eyes "how can I forget my childhood best friend, I just don't want to give any explanation to Mario about how we know each other "

Without warning, I let my feet slip out from beneath me and dropped, letting the weight of my body pull us both down, praying I wasn’t about to smash the back of my skull against the tiles. As I went down, the water sprayed me right in my face and I almost missed the comical look on Mario’s as he lost his footing, throwing out his other hand in an effort to catch himself. His full weight landed on top of me, but I was prepared and used his surprise to twist the arm I was holding, forcing him to release his grip around my neck right before he crushed my windpipe. There was a crack above my head, and I hoped it was his forehead. Or his nose.

"That detective was my friend and partner. And you will pay for disrespecting him!" Mario then advanced toward him. The man threw a punch at Mario, and he didn't dodge. He was struck. Mario fumed and struck him once and he lost his balance. Before he could gain balance, Mario grabbed his head and slammed it to the counter, shattering an ashtray upon impact. The man fell to the ground totally disoriented. Mario got on top of him, grabbed him by the collar as well, and began punching him. Blood began splattering after three heavy punches. But Mario wouldn't stop. All he saw was Juan Carlos' face as he punched the man.

His stomach churns, and he starts to vomit. Worried about Mario's condition, Max takes him to the hospital for a check-up and treatment. In the end, the doctor recommends that Mario be admitted, he has a concussion and has lost consciousness multiple times. The money he earned from the fight has to go toward paying his hospital bills. Mario feels helpless, unsure how else he can earn an honest living. Maybe he really should take Ms. Inez's offer? he thinks desperately, his body still sore and battered from John Banting's punches.

I asked, my voice low, every word heavy. “I’m just telling the truth,” Mario said. That was it. My blood boiled. My fists clenched on their own. I didn’t even think. My hand flew up and smashed into Mario’s jaw. He flew backward and crashed into a small table. The glass on it broke. The lamp fell to the floor with a loud sound. “Valen!” Bailey screamed, running forward. “Stop!” But I didn’t stop. I jumped on Mario and punched him again. Then again. And again.

Mario and I were looking at them like deers caught in headlights. Mario cursed when Dominick angrily threw the file in his hands on the floor and stormed towards us.
