When he looked up and saw the pair, he blinked.
“You’re here for a civil marriage?”
“Yes, sir,” Austin said.
Lucy swallowed hard, glancing at the form in front of her.
They filled it out, standing side by side. When it was time to sign, their eyes met, and for a moment, everything else disappeared.
They signed.
Just like that, they were husband and wife.
Austin reached for her hand, his fingers warm and steady against hers. He looked at her with a smirk that could melt steel.
“Welcome to a new chapter, Mrs. Austin,” he said, voice low and full of promise.
