I followed her into the hall. The table was full. I recognised a few faces. The rest of the table looked at me as I sat down. A few murmured as I sat down on the seat at the right hand of the king. "But Marta," I whispered, "I've never had a boyfriend, never been kissed. How can I marry a man I barely know? How could he ever be happy with me as his wife? I have nothing to offer him."
