I warned. “No, no, I’m not,” the rogue stammered. “Look, it’s not too far now.” We reached a small mountain. There were two guards who watched as we approached. The rogue stopped and said, “See, it’s right here. I…” I didn’t let him finish and drove my elbow into the back of his skull, cracking his skull. The rogue fell and convulsed on the ground. I stepped over him and approached. The guards tensed but I spoke before they did, “I am Ronan, son of Elder Cassius of Moonvale.”

It simply arrived, loud and hungry and impossible to contain. I pushed through the crowd outside the royal medical wing, Alaric close behind me. The air smelled of fear, steel, and the sharp edge of panic that made even trained warriors forget their discipline. Ronan stood in the center of the storm, blood still on his hands from catching his father when he fell, eyes pure gold and barely human. Power rolled off him in waves that made lesser wolves drop their gazes without thinking. The bond in my chest pulled tight, unwanted and impossible to ignore.

Everything is great on that front. Today is the family reunion, and Molly and her mate, former Alpha Ronan, are grilling the meat for us. They just volunteered to do it. Ronan is amazing with the kids. He is so happy with Molly, and he has made her so happy. I guess she talked him into moving up here with her, because Molly has assured me, they are not leaving this pack.

“He’s… he’s been with her all day. The coverage is getting bigger. People are comparing her to you…your image, your legacy. Some are even calling her the ‘heir of truth.’” I turn slowly to face him, letting the words sink in, tasting them. The mockery drips beneath the surface, but it is more than mockery, it is danger. The only danger that has ever dared to voice out. “I see,” I say softly, almost to myself. “And Ronan? Is he being a fool or a coward?” He hesitates. “He’s… conflicted. Emotional.” I laugh, low and bitter. “Emotional. That’s what happens when people forget who taught them to survive. Who taught them to dominate. Who made them believe that mercy is weakness.”

" She points to the last guy, for a moment I thought he is Xavier, he has the same eye, hair and body shape but he's features are gentle, unlike Xavier's. Who is he, why do they look so much alike? "They are brothers." Selena whispers in my ear when she saw the confused look on my face. "Oh." I smile in realisation of the obvious, i mean they really look alike. "Can you guys please keep Pari accompanied, i have some unfinished business to take care of." Selena sends me a smile before leaving our small group. "So where did this beautiful angel crawled out from." Zack the blond one of the twin flirts, sending me a million dollar smile.

Clay whispered, nodding. “If you're worried, take the cowards with you and fall back.” Ronan said, letting go of his throat and spitting on the ground next to Clay. Clay scampered to his feet, looking around. The three other’s shrinked away worried. They were not sure what was worse, being caught or facing Ronan. Ronan was deadly and unpredictable. He didn’t call on his wolf most times when fighting. He used his pure ability. Pax was his backup and secret weapon.

But before I could move, another voice cut through the air. “Enough.” The word was sharp, commanding. Both the guards froze at once. Ronan Grey Thorn. He is the proxy Alpha right now… Stepbrother of Alpha King Alexander. Roana walked toward us. He is tall and charismatic with short brown hair and a dangerous aura. Each step he took was heavy and sure; he seemed the kind of man who bent others to his will. The guards dropped their heads and moved aside as he stopped near us. “Let her through,” he ordered. They obeyed instantly.

In fact, he’s watching me like a child might stare at a dog in a cage with genuine curiosity. I slide up the wall to standing. My legs are stiff, and every muscle in my body aches. “What do you want?” A smirk tugs up the corner of his mouth. “Hi. I’m Ronan. Beta Ronan. I’m Varek’s Beta, and his cousin, Ronan.” “I’m sorry–what was your name again?” I ask, rolling my eyes. My attempt at being a bitch only makes him laugh. “You’re funny. Fast, too. No one out runs the Alpha, but you got close last night.”

“Let me come in. It's for your good…” I didn't wait for him to say more than that, nor did I give him a reply. I placed my hands on the doorknob with a speed that wasn't from this world, rolled it, and opened the door widely. “Enter, enter…” I said, shutting the door back immediately. It was Ronan. “These rogues are already seven times stronger than they were before…” Ronan explained, shaking his head in surprise. “How on earth would Alpha Thane be part of them?”

He looked like someone who enjoyed trouble and he looked familiar “I wasn’t lost,” Hazel muttered. “Sure,” the man drawled. “Wandering around alone, looking over your shoulder every five seconds? Definitely not lost.” Hazel narrowed her eyes. “Who are you?” He placed a hand on his chest dramatically. “You wound me, Luna. The Alpha’s mate doesn’t even know my name.” Hazel’s nose scrunched. “Don’t call me that.” The man chuckled. “I’m Ronan. Callan’s Beta. Second in command. Keeper of secrets, we saw during breakfast”
