"You aided the sickness in killing Martha!" Beth said, crowding into me. "Oh, poor Martha. That sweet, gentle girl. She always bowed in respect to greet me and now you've killed her." The lady smiled at the couple. "What can we say, Martha," Dante shrugged, "by the way, Rose, this is Martha, my housekeeper. She's like my second mother. And Martha, this is Rose, my girlfriend."
