Nero regarded him carefully for a while and then turned back to the screen without another word, abruptly dropping the topic, but he didn’t believe Nico’s deadpan explanation.
“Cross-check door swipes for the east service stairwell,” he said. “Subtract those accounted for. Then bring me the ghosts.”
Just as soon, Nico’s hands moved. Numbers collapsed, columns vanished. Two IDs pinged where no person had swiped. In those areas, the doors had opened with a master override.
“Only two people have access to that card. You and I. Someone used a master,” Nero said, voice smoothing to a blade. “Someone inside my house.”
