Zake is twenty-five years old and has a partner known as a 'mate'. Mate is the wife term for werewolves, almost the same as the Erasthai term for Lycan. However, Erasthai is more attached to his partner. When a werewolf dies, his Mate can still survive despite great grief. But an Erasthai, as soon as his partner dies that very second he will die. As if their hearts are one, when one heart dies, the other heart will die.
