40 ****Kevin's POV**** Maurice stood looking at me, his eyes bright with fury. I saw him tight his fist and loosen it. “Let's get this damn meeting done!" He said, heading towards where I sat. “Of course we should, loser!" “Sit!" I ordered. Maurice stared menacingly at me for a few seconds, before he began to head to the empty bistro chair at my side. ‘Was this pauper thinking he could do anything stupid?!' I scoffed, sipping from my glass again before calling to one of my men.

Kael appeared, reminding Cassian that they still needed to organize everything to capture the Wards. "I'll be waiting for you," I said, bidding Cassian farewell with a kiss and watching him walk down the hallway wearing a new shirt. No more injuries occurred after that day. Those we were treating soon recovered and returned to work. The house was silent. Tranquil. Triggering an instinctive alert in my mind. Calm always comes before a big storm, and I was right. That afternoon, Maurice appeared with a letter addressed to me. The envelope was blank, and I hesitated for a moment before smelling the nauseating perfume coming from it. I wrinkled my nose, bothered by the strong scent.

Her head is facing away from me, so I take the opportunity to remove Robbie from my shirt and bring him up to the curve of my neck and shoosh him. “I had to see what I was working with,” Maurice say. “Then why the therapy at all?” Arthur asks like he’s caught her in a lie, but Maurice laughs like that’s the stupidest question she’s ever heard. “I didn’t bug your house to watch you two, I did it to watch your daughter. She was always the mission,” Maurice says. “Where is she now?” Arthur lashes out, but Maurice just laughs and laughs. Pretty soon, it becomes evident that we won’t be getting a response, so Arthur cuts off her laughter wrapping his paws around her neck.

I held my breath, waiting for him to push me away and tell me I was out of line. Instead, a slow, wicked grin spread across Maurice's face, completely shattering the illusion of the sweet stepdad forever. He didn't look repulsed; he looked triumphant. He lifted a hand, his rough, calloused thumb lightly but deliberately tracing the erratic pulse jumping at the base of my throat.

Estella asked "Are you deaf? didn't you hear me? I said that I have never loved you and will never do. You were nothing but a tool I found useful so I planned to use you till I was tired of you" Maurice said "And now?" She managed to ask "And now I realize how wrong I was to think you are important when you are nothing but a waste, I want you to leave" Maurice added. Maurice needed to follow protocols no matter what the normal plan directly revolved around Daniel and his wealth which he wanted. Daniel must not regain his memories back so that this plan would go on well but Estella was trying to ruin everything.
