It so happens that Midori is also the same woman who left him after he went back from the States blind and confined to his wheelchair. Mina said, slapping Max again. "What?!” Sandra and I said the same thing as if we had no idea what had happened while we were involved in the deal. "Nelly save the act, and you, Sandra, did you believe you could replace me?" Mina asked, holding Sandra by the hair. “I didn't do anything, please; it was all Max's plan. I didn't mean to lock you up; I was just following orders," Sandra begged. "Do not think I will pity you because you are the reason I had a miscarriage. “And I'm always going to be your patient.” The thought made my lips curve into a smile but it didn’t last long. Pride twisted in my chest but regret followed right after it because I wasn’t there to see it happen. Swallowing hard, I forced my thoughts back under control. The trainer asked her if she was okay, and I almost smirked because yeah, she didn’t look okay, but Maxine recovered quickly, brushing it off like nothing happened and stepping into her role like she was born for it. “Dr. Maxine Vaughan.”

A big fat ugly liar. “RUN!” Thraen screams. “NOW!” Maxine staggers, her leg catches on a loose vine that wasn’t there before and she trips. Her life flashes before her eyes, her hands make contact with the damp floor and dirt fills beneath her nails as her knees hit the ground painfully. She bites her tongue to avoid crying out in pain because it’s nothing compared to the terror clawing its way into her nervous system. They were closer. HE was closer. Maxine’s heart thuds against her ribcage. She scrambles to get up on trembling limbs, failing miserably as she comes crashing down falling flat on her back, twisting her ankle in the process.
