Gracelyn's POV I saw Greg's sad reaction at the way I talk to him but I couldn't make myself to comfort him. Since dad died bitterness has overpowered my emotions. Smiling seems difficult. I also feel Greg distancing from me and giving me space to move on but I don't know how to move on. Even I dont understand myself. I needed help, I know that, but I dont want to talked to anyone not even Greg. Sometimes I am thinking of dying but my child's smile always gives me a little ray of hope that I can surpass this. I turned off the gas range and went to see my baby. I put her in the crib after she fell asleep in my arms a while ago.

“No, he didn’t. You did. And you will destroy her.” “No.” I shook my head. “Never.” “What about me, Nate? We were forever, and now we’re never. The only similarity is ever. Life isn’t guaranteed, but ever is always there. Ever is the catalyst for life and death. At any time, in any way.” “I won’t. A child ran past us with a small flame cupped in her hands, careful and proud. "Do you know how many people would want what you have right now?" His voice turned hard as he whispered. "People die with things they never said, never did, never tried. They die waiting for the right time and the right time never comes and they just—" He stopped. "They just end." I glared at the fire.

"You know what they say? You can never really run from death. It will always find you." I pressed the tip against my wrist. I wasn't crying anymore. I just wanted the noise to stop. I closed my eyes, took a ragged breath, and prepared to give back the life I should have never taken back.

I wiped my tears. “I won’t disappear.” Kieran squeezed my hand. “Good.” “Because I am not done fighting.” His eyes burned with quiet determination. “Neither am I.” But Death suddenly looked upward. His expression changed. “What is it?” I asked.

He was the one who destroyed everything, and now he was trying to have it all back? Unfortunately, the me from back then died on that surgery bed. I looked at him, my gaze cold and distant. “There is no ‘we’ anymore, Jason. “Don’t think you can redeem yourself by acting remorseful. You chose to marry me, you lied and said you couldn’t conceive, you turned around and tricked me to make her happy. “And now you finally say you’re sorry? Do you really think that’ll work? “You think you’re upset and in pain? Don’t you find that hilarious?”

And next to our name, carved in smaller letters, there was a line that said, "May we never meet again in the afterlife." This was my final punishment for them. I would never forgive them forever.
