May I Ask For One Final Thing Novels & Stories

“That is the beginning.” Imani writes in her notebook. “What if she says fine?” she says. “Ask her again in a different way,” I say. “People say fine because it is efficient. It is the answer that closes the conversation. Ask a question that cannot be closed with fines.” “Like what?” she says. “Like what did you want to be before everything else happened?” I say. “Like, what is the thing you do that makes you forget what time it is. Like, what would you change if you knew it would work?” I pause. “Questions that require an actual answer.”

"My son, we know we're to blame, but after three years with no word, can't you give us a chance to right our wrongs?" "A chance to right wrongs?" Elena Lynch, standing by my side, cut in sharply.

Yukti Kapoor POV I was sick of the demands and I was hoping that they won't call me again and won't bother me again but I was wrong they weren't just letting me do that only. Decide if you want this or not... We still have other means to convince you... But you might not like them... So better not waste our time and do as we say..'''

I asked. "You know what, I'll answer just one question about the surprise dates and after that, you can't ask me any questions again," he negotiated and I thought about it. This was my only chance to get some sort of answer from him, but one question was not going to satisfy my curiosity and he knew. "You are running out of time." "Yes. I agree. I'll ask you a question. Just one question," I paused to think about the question. "Answer all my other questions," I ordered.

The only thing that is left for him was asked for the opinion of the one that have the rights to do so. “Mom…” [Oliver?! Where are you?!] “Mom.. before that… I wanna ask something. Would you be sad if you know that Hosergio Menavido is dead?

I stand up and place my hands on his desk, take a deep breath, and say: “I’m not trying to make him back out of this. I just want to talk to him alone for a few minutes.” Connor says nothing, so I add: “You all owe me a lot, and I’m just asking for a favor.”

“Something like that, and one more thing I need from you.” She hums, “Ask me anything.” I take a deep breath. “Let me move in with you.”

The last text is from me, three days ago, unanswered like all the others. I type: I know you need space and I’m respecting that. But there’s something I need to tell you. Something important that I should have told you months ago. Can we meet at the Innovation Summit next week? Before the opening ceremony? Please, Maya. Just give me one chance to explain everything. I hit send before I can second-guess myself. The three dots appear almost immediately. She’s typing. My heart is in my throat. Then they disappear. Then appear again.
