Brandy had truly done an excellent job! "It’s because you’re naturally pretty!" I said with a faint smile. "By the way, where is your brother?" I had just noticed that Philip was nowhere to be seen. Jane's expression grew serious. "Megan's villa is on fire. Philip rushed there with Dr. Ethan to check on her."

CHAPTER FORTY-SEVEN - Chris's POV Back in the familiarity of my apartment, I found my thoughts inevitably drifting back to that unexpected encounter with Megan at the bookstore. Sinking onto the worn couch, I let out a low chuckle, shaking my head in lingering disbelief. "Doing errands for her friend's insatiable bodice-ripper addiction? Really, Megan?" I could easily picture the slight flush gracing her refined features as she admitted to being the one tasked with purchasing those lurid romance novels.

Two days later “You’re looking better and better everyday, France.” Brody’s teasing voice pulled me from my favorite book, “Keeping You A Secret” by Julie Ann Peters. One jean clad leg crossed over the other, she leaned against the door with a large pizza in hand. Her dark burgundy sweater hung off her slightly muscular frame alluringly, and I discreetly bit my lip. Megan really was lucky, and I wondered if she knew that. Taking in the spicy pepperoni smell, I waved her in.

They all brought with them their own batch of weirdness factor to dump on her lap and leave there when their session was complete; and truth be told, she didn't mind it one bit. Thing is, Megan had discovered from her childhood that she had an uncanny ability to read people. Whenever she met a person, even before they opened their mouth to speak a word to her, she would realize that she was somehow able to place what the person was feeling, and sometimes even thinking, with just a glance; and she was rarely ever wrong.
