He could tell by the bags under her eyes that she wasn’t sleeping much. Her body was much more frail than he remembered. But she was still perfect to him and all he ever wanted.

I wasn't surprised by this because this is the Fifth maid Elijah is assigning to me, according to him he wants to make sure I am comfortable. “Oh really, what's your name” I don't even know why I asked, at the end of the day he is still going to assign another one and I won't remember this particular one's name. “Mirabell, but you can call me Mimi” she replied almost immediately, there was something about her that kept reminding me about Aphrodite, I don't know if it was the way she replied but I feel like I would want to keep this one as my personal maid.

Ariana's POV Miriam, a woman who appeared to be in her mid-forties, led me out of Damien's office. I followed her obediently. At least I am still alive and will be alive for the next 9 months—enough time to figure out how to get out of here.

I walked to the driver and smiled. “Caren Inc please” I slipped into the car and he drove off. Caren Inc was a large office building, it wasn’t so popular but I already felt a homy feeling around it. I stepped out of the car and walked into the building. I headed straight for the receptionist, a tall blonde woman with huge spectacles. Her tag said Mrs. Helen Mayer. “hey, I’m Camila Santiago and I applied for a job here” she glanced through some files and smiles.

“And I still have to take my finals.” “I see.” Miriam stood, adjusting her beautiful royal blue skirt set. She looked so classy, whereas I looked like a rumpled mess. She began to move toward the door, which made me panic. “Mirium.” She stalled but kept her eyes looking at the door. “I’ve killed three people.” She turned and looked at me, matching the tears welling in my eyes. “I know. Nothing I will teach you would have changed their fate. Forgive yourself. You were saving the lives of people you loved. What scares you is that, given the situation, you would do it again.”

“She’ll start meditating in the living room and light candles like we need cleansing.” Joy smirked, but her eyes flicked back to Fiero, searching for any flicker of reaction. “And the third?” Samuel asked. Miriam hesitated. “No name. No photo. Access denied even through the staff portal.” That earned a look from the group. Not even Thornecrest’s notoriously paranoid system kept secrets from Miriam. Fiero tapped the rim of his cup once. The quiet clink was the only instruction needed. Miriam’s fingers started again. “I’ll find out.”

However, the woman, whom she considered a friend and whom she was desperately looking for, humiliated her at the garden party held by Ezra Euclase instead. "Are you waiting for someone, Miss?" Heath asked. "No, no. I just…” Penelope smiled stiffly. She couldn't answer that she felt guilty and ashamed because of the war. “Miss Zircon,” Miriam approached her and affectionately linked her arm around her arm, “My Elder Sister-in-law has said a lot about you. My name is Miriam Amaryllis.” Penelope was surprised at Miriam's sweet demeanour. Especially when the woman's adorable smile was directed at her, equipped with her big sparkling eyes. She chuckled softly. "Nice to meet you, Young Madam."

I folded my arms and smiled. “Oh, look who is here,” I said playfully. “Madam Miriam, What can I do for you?” She did not smile back, Instead, her face became colder. “Do I look like someone who needs your help?” she snapped. I slowly walked closer to her.“Then why are you looking at me like that?” I asked calmly. Miriam stood up immediately. “Listen carefully,” she said angrily. “You will leave this house very soon. Don might be blind now, but sooner or later, he will realize the kind of woman you are.”
