A pretty brown-skinned woman opens the door saying, "I'm Kendra, how may I help you?" Melanie stutters, "H-Hello. I'm Melanie Knight, and my father is Zebedee Lowry. Are you my mother?" Momentarily, Kendra stood motionless and wide-eyed. Clearing her throat, she asks, "Melanie? Is that really you?" Wiping away a tear, Melanie nods. Kendra's tears flow as she looks at me. “They were both in my class.” Melanie passed them and sat next to Ludo. “How are you Melanie?” Zamiwe asked. “I’m fine thank you,” Melanie answered. “Tell us the long story. Where were you and our daughter?” “At my house, “Melanie responded. “Your house?” “My parents’ house,” she touched her head. “I can give you their number so you call them to confirm.” “No need for that,” Joe cut in. “Didn’t it occur to you that you were supposed to call us and let us know where our daughter was?”
