It moved me so much, I even moved back into my chambers that night! I cautiously and nervously gave Bahari a bath that night with Kris and Jo Jo while Hunnie fed Hubi. When it came time to dress him, I had to bathe the poor kid again, because he pissed all over his self and me. Why is it when I lift his legs to put on the cloth diaper, he shit's out of his tiny bum like a fire hose! Never have I ever had to clean ANYONE'S feces off of me!

I was sure that she had smelt worse things. “Now, get the wipes and make sure that you clean every last bit of this little man. Remember, you're not managing anything. So you use it adequately.” I watched as she turned him around, lifted his leg up and cleaned every bit of him. She looked so graceful doing it. It was like it was her everyday chore. “Now, get the diaper, open it up and make sure that he's placed properly on it. If he's not, it'll eventually move and that will be such a mess. So, make sure it's placed properly and then secure the sides.”

Mom is screaming in pain as Dad is telling her to push. “Remind me why I want to have kids again?” I ask, which gains chuckles from everyone around me. “Because Death says we have to. At least we guys get to enjoy the fun part and not have to deal with the pain of delivering the baby.” Kai replies, and I slap him upside the head. “I’m so making sure you have to change a blowout diaper,” I tell him with a grin. “What’s a blowout diaper?” Kai asks, horrified. “It’s where the baby’s poop explodes out of its diaper. It’s messy and stinky. You usually have to clean the baby in the bath.” I inform him as I watch Kai’s face twist in disgust.

“I don’t know to where even go from here. What do we even do with that land?” “No idea. We never did find a normalcy after Kristen was taken. Maybe we just need to focus on getting the pack’s moral back up and then worry about it next year.” As soon as I pulled the diaper off, I could see he was in fact wet. Pulling the diaper off and tossed it into trash that was sitting beside us. Grabbing a new diaper, I was about to put it under him when he started peeing. It went up and over his own head and on the floor. “SHIT!” I was both surprised and impressed with how far that went.

Nova growled in warning. “I know wolf, I want nothing to do with either of them,” I spat before going back indoors. Kieran started fussing and his diaper felt mushy. Having never changed a diaper in my life I pulled the wall tapestry cord for Lily as I laid my son down on the table with supplies on it. A moment later Lily entered believing I wanted to clean up the food dishes until I asked for her help. Laughing, she helped me with what to do. “Watch out for his little pistol because he will fire it and pee all over you. Use something to keep it covered while you put on the clean diaper,” she explained.

And a new diaper…. Immediately, a group of guards rushes in to take Max into custody. As soon as he is out of the room, a flock of women appear. Many of them have the necessities we need for these kids. Diapers, bottles, formula, food. One of them comes over to me with a cotton ball. “Let’s see if we can get that adhesive off so we can feed this little princess, okay?” she says. I don’t want to let go of my daughter, but I hold her out so she can do her magic, and in a few seconds the tape comes off. Trisha starts to cry, and it is the most beautiful sound I’ve ever heard in my entire life.

Wesley followed close behind, cracking jokes to keep spirits up, his energy lighter but his eyes serious. After the last of them had been wheeled out, I stood in the middle of the car, surrounded by silence. The cabin looked like a war zone. Open water bottles rolled across the floor. Used barf bags sat bloated in the corner. Blankets and jackets were strewn across the seats. The air still hung heavy with the sour stench of vomit and disinfectant. I grabbed a clean towel and began wiping down a row of seats. I wasn’t on staff. It wasn’t my job. But I needed to do something.

⸻ I step out of the shower with my head still somewhere else, trying not to think too much, about the game, about Mateo, about Sofi, about the way everything feels stuck in my chest, so I focus on the basics, on the simple things, on what I can control. Dark jeans, a white t-shirt, a light jacket on top, nothing special, nothing that stands out, just enough so it doesn’t look like I was dragged out of the house, I run a hand through my hair, glance at myself in the mirror for a second and that’s it. I don’t need more. I grab my phone before leaving and, out of habit, check the team group chat. Mistake. Messages and more messages. Complaints, insults, excuses, frustration.

Adrian remarked, studying the milk in the bottle. Riley settled Freya on her shoulder to let her burp. After that, a series of soft, squelchy farts suddenly erupted. Adrian and Riley looked at each other before glancing at Freya. They both panicked when they realized their daughter had dirtied her diaper for the first time since their care. “I’ll get the diaper,” Adrian said. On the other hand, Riley looked at Freya and said, “It’s staining her baby wrap, Hun!” “Let me change her diaper, Hun,” Adrian offered.

Richard's Pov I stood by the changing table, my hands steady as I carefully fastened the clean diaper on Anthony. His little legs kicked playfully in the air, and I couldn't help but smile as he cooed up at me, his tiny fingers grasping at the air. The scent of baby powder filled the room, mingling with the faint smell of fresh linens. As I finished securing the diaper, I heard Tommy's small voice pipe up from behind me. "Papa, all babies stink!" Tommy declared with the straightforward honesty only a five-year-old could muster.
