Marco smiled, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes.
She muttered under her breath, "Maybe that’s the problem. You should have been more ruthless before the meeting. Then you’d be Don now."
He leaned in, kissed her forehead gently.
"Don’t get too worked up," he said. "It’s nothing to be bothered about. Being a capo is absolutely fine—as long as I get to be with you."
