I ask, and I find my voice has come out as almost a whisper. "I didn't mean to startle you," he says, and I see his eyes flicker over my body, even in the half-dark. "I just thought you might want to know it's not a full moon yet. In case that's important for your shot." His voice is low, almost a growl and it sends a tingle up my spine. "Oh thanks," I murmur, an inexplicable thrill racing through my body as I gaze at him. "But it's a series I'm working on - the title is Incomplete." At this I see a wry smile break out on his face.

Before I can identify what's happening the wolves paws weren't pinning me down. The wolves snarled and barked at each other as they melted into the trees, before I knew it they were gone and I was alone in the snow, bleeding and scared. The snow around me was stained in my blood and I didn't want to look down at my stomach, I didn't want to know what state I was in. So now here I am, a few minutes, or maybe hours later, the sun setting, lightening glaring down at me, my body numb, my eyes heavy, my blood turning the snow crimson. If I made it through the night it would be a miracle.

The night was still with the blood moon shinning bright in the sky. Alpha Hardin and Luna Sky of the Midnight pack stood together looking down at their little baby girl as she slept, with love filling their eyes. This was not to be just any girl. She was to be far greater than any wolf could imagine and she had come from them. Months before her birth, the nearby witch coven had foretold that an amazing future was in store for their soon to be born child. At that time, no one imaged it would be a girl or the amount of strength she would have at birth.

Chapter One The notification goes live at 12:03 a.m. Most people don’t notice it right away. Midnight notifications are easy to ignore—another bored scroll, another face glowing in the dark. But for the ones who do click, the screen opens to something oddly quiet. No music. No filter. No bright smile. Just Lila Monroe, framed too close, her face pale in the bluish light of her phone. The familiar background of her bedroom looks different tonight—messier, shadows stretching too long across the walls. Her hair is pulled back like she’s been running her hands through it too many times.

I didn’t bother with an umbrella; it was a bit hot, but I felt lighter than I had in years. Even the darkest places eventually see the light.

The city skyline twinkled with leftover holiday lights, snow dusting the railing like powdered sugar, but the real view was Astrella, curled up beside me in nothing but my oversized flannel shirt, unbuttoned just enough to tease those perfect tits, legs bare and crossed, her laptop balanced on her thighs. She'd insisted on this 'morning read-aloud' after pounding out that filthy story last night, her eyes gleaming with that wicked writer’s spark. "Dax, baby," she'd purred, handing me the printed pages, still warm from the printer, edges crisp. "Now, read my latest. Out loud. Every dirty word. It's inspired by us... kinda." I smirked, flipping it open to the first page, 'Snowbound Enemies: A

She closed the journal, her fingers tracing the leather cover, the sunlight casting a golden glow on her face, the grove a sanctuary, her future a radiant flame. Alya stood, her amber eyes narrowing as she gazed toward the horizon, her voice a determined whisper, the sunlight illuminating her face, the warmth of the grove a mirror to the fire in her veins, the air thick with the promise of new adventures, the grove a sanctuary, her destiny a radiant light. “There’s something out there,” she said, her hand resting on Crescent’s head, the wolf’s ears twitching, the sunlight dancing on her face, the grove a haven, the warmth a shared beginning. “A shadow stirring in the north—I can feel it.” He

"Since you claim you're so cold, let's give you a real reason to wake up! Stop lying here like a corpse just to fish for sympathy!" She ripped the cap off the bottle and dumped the freezing water squarely over my face and head. The piercing, icy torrent saturated my hair and ran down my neck, soaking straight through my clothes. My core temperature plummeted, causing my limbs to curl inward instinctively as my consciousness drifted even closer to total blackness. Yet, Marie remained blind to my agony, her hands continuing their relentless assault.

All of these symptoms are consistent with what was recorded in that book. I ran to my room, picked up the book, and looked at its contents. Although I don't know what moonlight and magic refer to, it says that sunlight and morning dew can bring rebirth. Maybe that's the cure. But it's night time and there is no morning dew at all. The only way for Noah to get through the night is with human blood. I found a pen from my room and wrote the phrase from the book on a slip of paper. There was a crashing sound from outside and Noah’s low growl from pain.

Morning Light and Choices Evelyn stirred as the soft warmth of sunlight kissed her face, filtering through the open window. The golden rays danced across the room, casting delicate patterns onto the walls and the polished floor. She blinked slowly, her mind a haze of half-remembered dreams and lingering tension from the previous night. The weight of her new reality pressed against her chest, but for a moment, she let herself bask in the light.
