I asked, the vulnerability in my tone almost too raw to bear. He tilted his head, his gaze unwavering. “Then I’ll be there to remind you that even in the darkest moments, there’s a light inside of us. That light, your light, is too brilliant to be extinguished by the cruelty of the past. I’m not asking you to forget everything that happened, but to allow yourself the possibility of something new.” His voice was earnest, each word imbued with a quiet promise.

I prayed to the moon goddess that maybe in my next life, I would be better, I would do better, maybe I would even be a lycan and not have to be beneath anyone.
