The Billionaire’s Vengeful Bride
Below — a narrow alley, three stories down.
There was a metal fire escape ladder about six feet away, reachable with a decent jump from the balcony railing.
Miles joined me, scanning the gap. “We can make it.”
I nodded, adrenaline replacing fear. “Let’s go.”
He slid the window open, climbed onto the narrow balcony ledge first. The sound of footsteps filled the suite behind us — multiple, heavy. The door burst open.
“Miles!”
He reached back. “Jump, Scarlett!”
I climbed over the railing and leapt. My fingers caught the cold metal bar of the fire escape, my legs slamming against it. Pain shot up my arms, but I held on.
