The Pack's Dragon
As it boiled, Lyric found some bread and began to butter it.
“Niarthen told me that your name is Ember?” She asked uncertainly. Ember seemed almost chatty compared to their time on the island, and she guessed that their change of circumstances was responsible for Ember’s change of mood.
“It is one of my names,” Ember replied. “I have had many over the centuries.”
“Centuries,” Lyric stared at her.
“I am not human,” Ember pointed out reasonably.
“Yes, I realized that from the wings. But… centuries?”
“I am a dragon,” Ember sat across the kitchen bench on one of the high stools. “We do not age, and therefore do not die because of it, much like the vampires.”
