After I fell back to the ground and collapsed (Alexi and I both passed out), I let Alexi take over. Nicolas's point of view:

As she looked across the clearing it was filled with wolves, black, brown, grey, sable, and one lone white wolf. He was immense and stood on the precipice, watching those below. A black wolf that was just as big approached and stood by his side. They exchanged glances and looked in her direction. She had to side step to avoid being bowled over by the gigantic black panther that barreled past her on her way to the top of the bluff. She rubbed her body along the side of the white wolf. She purred as he licked her head.

The wolf stood beside it, watching its reflection on its clear waters, and was thankful to the moon shining above them because if it weren't for it, Camila wouldn't have seen what her wolf looked like. She was big. Bigger than Alpha Killan's, and she was amazed at the number of questions rushing through her mind. She was completely black, except for her ears, which were pure white, and her eyes, which glowed red. She read books when she was young. She had heard tales, and she had heard the elders of the pack talking about them. They were rare, pure black wolves with pure whitish ears and glowing red eyes. They hadn't had one in about a hundred years, so she was the first one. She didn't know

A small, evil smile lifted my lips at the thought. I sat cross-legged on a velvet-cushioned bench, a massive leather-bound tome spread open in front of me, my fingers tracing the faded ink of a chapter titled The Luminary Wolves. The wolves in this book were dated back to the creation of the world. Their abilities were out of this world, given to them by the moon goddess herself. The description of their powers came close—very close—but it still wasn’t right.

I tell him, before I start running to hide, pulling Issac along with me. Issac and I find a spot behind a bush and sit down, waiting. “So, did you learn anything from this book?” I ask and he nods. “Maybe.” He pulls the book out of his back pocket and starts going through the pages. The wolf senses and light from the moon making reading in the dark, while still hard not impossible. He stops at a page and shows it to me. “Apparently, if this book knows anything real, there’s like a whole pack ran by a golden wolf. Like even now, the golden wolf is like their Alpha.” He explains and I take the book to read over it.

"Oh. Right." They settled in front of the desk. Autumn pulled a thick book from one of the shelves and placed it in front of Callie with a soft thud. The cover was old, the leather cracked and worn, like it had been opened a thousand times by a thousand different hands. Autumn started pacing, her hands clasped behind her back. Callie opened the book and began flipping through the pages slowly, taking in the strange drawings and symbols. "A long time ago," Autumn began, her voice taking on the cadence of someone telling a story they'd memorized, "the ancient wolves were growing extinct. Threats came from all sides… different species, humans, vampires. Everyone wanted us dead or enslaved or co
