The third didn’t even get to raise his gun before Zed’s bullet tore through his chest, and he dropped dead, blood pooling out.
Three shots.
Three kills.
No hesitation.
Zed stood there, chest rising calmly, smoke curling from his gun.
He turned his head slowly, eyes meeting mine with a smirk that sliced open my pride.
He blew the smoke from the gun barrel.
“Touch a hair on her head,” he said, voice soft, deadly, “and I will bring down your entire empire.”
He stepped closer, eyes sharper than I’d ever seen.
“I am Zed Black.”
Then he walked past me, brushing my shoulder as if I was nothing but a shadow.
