The Nexus Point
As I scanned the room, my eyes landed on Maxine, who was sitting on the couch, her eyes closed and her face scrunched up in pain.
I immediately felt a surge of concern and walked over to her. "Max, what's wrong?" I asked, sitting down beside her.
Maxine opened her eyes, wincing in pain. "Nothing. Just another headache, McKenna," she said, her voice tight with discomfort.
I nodded sympathetically. "Those twitching headaches of yours are getting more frequent, aren't they?" I asked, my brow furrowed with concern.
Maxine nodded, her eyes fluttering closed again. "Yeah, they are. I don't know what's causing them, but they're getting worse."
