I fidgeted while waiting for his response but was interrupted by Mindy. “You ready to blow this popsicle stand?” Mindy sang, waltzing into my office. “I want to find a new bathing suite before we head out.” I smiled. Mindy was obsessed with shopping. It helped she had an unlimited cash flow from her family’s successful finance business in Chicago. “Let me close out of my tabs and we can go.” She crossed her arms and leaned against my desk. “Wow, I thought I’d have to twist your arm? Everything alright?”

At this time, Lionel had gone to school, and Mindy was home alone. Since returning from Elgerson, she had already outlined her new book, planning a horror novel centered on campus ghost stories. Miranda had called earlier, inviting them to attend the lab's opening ceremony, but both she and Lionel regrettably declined. Mandy laughed. That's what scares me, I thought to myself. But I couldn't let her know that. I shake my head. "It's just that...I've always been modest. Are you sure they won't ask me to take my clothes off?" "Oh, Delilah. You are too innocent. You're always playing safe. For once, take some risks. Do you have a better idea? You sure as hell won't make that kind of money at your bookstore," Mandy declared.

“You’re playing sports? At home? I’m currently outside your building with Chiara.” A while ago, Mindy was rather fond of Chiara and could not stop talking about her. She genuinely liked the young woman.

No men are allowed in there. I race inside quickly, placing my head down as I glance at Damon’s office. I wonder if he’s in there, but the thought quickly leaves my mind as I reach the locker room door, taking sanctuary inside. I walk inside to find Mindy inside with two other girls, and Mindy stares at me for a moment before she dismisses the other two, “Hey, go get on the floor. I’ll be out in a minute.” She tells them. The two girls glance at me and quickly retreat as she walks toward me.
