Clara got ready to fight but before she could utter a spell. The other witches had gathered around Annette in a circle and chanting a spell.

It flickered like fire through skin. Catherine reached out slowly. “Mira. We’re here to help you. You’re not alone.” The girl began to scream. Not a normal scream—but one that cracked the walls, shattered every pane of glass, and sent Father Emmanuel to his knees. Isabella lunged forward, gripping Mira’s shoulders. “Mira! Listen to me! You’re a seal like me! You need to control it!” But Mira’s body levitated, her eyes rolling back, the sigil burning brighter than before.
